Pontoon Moorings, Floating Decks & Marina Networks

Modular pontoon mooring and floating dock network on water in the UKpontoon-mooring-floating-dock-marina-uk.jpg
24×8

Our moorings, floating decks, docks, jetties, rafts and marina networks are built for mariners, homeowners and businesses across the UK. They use the same Cutlass Marine rotomoulded floats and marine-grade aluminium framing proven in our floating-home bases, refined for walkways, jetties, finger moorings and leisure decks, and drafted, fabricated and finished in-house in Poole, Dorset.

Every pontoon in the range is built around a lightweight modular float-and-frame architecture that configures to any footprint or load. By varying float spacing, frame geometry and decking, the same system delivers anything from a private end-of-garden mooring to a commercial marina walkway or a public-access jetty network.

Modules link with articulated axle joints for smooth movement across tidal and flood ranges, and pair with gangplanks, pile rollers, handrails and utility trunking to form complete, ready-to-use floating structures. Three pontoon types cover most needs, the DoubleCat, the HZ-Deck and the Mono-Module, and all three share one connection standard, so you can mix them in a single layout and reconfigure later.

Choose your modules below, compare them at a glance, add the marina accessories you need, then design your layout in the configurator or talk to us about siting, anchoring, pile-setting and optimising a pontoon kit for your site.

General-purpose pontoon

560×300

The DoubleCat is our most versatile low-load pontoon module, prioritising span, budget and simplicity over high buoyancy density. It is optimised for walkways, jetties, fishing platforms and marina access pontoons, with the stability, adaptability and corrosion resistance to suit freshwater, tidal and beaching use.

Each frame is fabricated in-house from 150 × 50 × 3 mm 6063-T6 aluminium. Widening the beam spaces the floats further apart and seats each float broadside at the outer edge of the structure, which makes the DoubleCat exceptionally stable underfoot, even in long runs or curved arrays. Positioned parallel to a bank or current, the short ends face the flow to cut drag, flotsam build-up and stress on the fixings.

Typical applications: private docks and end-of-garden moorings, marina access pontoons, riverside and tidal moorings, event pontoons and fishing rafts.

Best for: general marina, mooring and walkway use where span, stability and budget lead.
Wide-span deck

HZ-Deck, Cost-Efficient Walkway & Deck Pontoon

560×300

The HZ-Deck is our most cost-efficient modular pontoon, engineered to span greater distances with minimal material while keeping the strength, safety and versatility of every Floats and Frames build. It is the natural choice for walkways, floating terraces, event decks, riverside seating and pedestrian access pontoons, where span and surface coverage matter more than heavy structural loading.

It shares its geometry with our PJ150 base, using a 150 × 50 × 3 mm 6063 aluminium outer frame and integral 50 × 50 mm joists running port-starboard across the float tops. Those joists can be simple deck supports for short spans or upgraded to structural cross-beams for longer reach without excess weight or cost. A fixed width of 2.464 m gives a generous, comfortable walkway or seating platform.

Typical applications: marina and riverside walkways, pub-front terraces and lakeside cafes, floating event stages and festival seating, temporary pedestrian or accessible bridges, leisure rafts, fishing stages and garden decks.

Best for: long, walkable, light-load spans where deck coverage and cost-efficiency lead.
Finger berth

Mono-Module, Single-Run Finger-Mooring Pontoon

560×420

560×300

The Mono-Module is a specialist single-run pontoon section for finger moorings, add-on walkways and bank-braced access pontoons, where space, simplicity or budget make a larger assembly unnecessary. Compact and easy to configure, it gives a professional-grade solution for small-craft berths, private moorings and modular marina expansions.

It is fabricated from 150 × 50 × 3 mm 6063-T6 aluminium with integral 50 × 50 mm joist supports, upgradeable to full structural beams for extended spans. A single free-floating module behaves like a buoyant beam rather than a platform; braced to a larger pontoon or run parallel to a bank, it becomes a stable finger berth, canoe or kayak dock, or light pedestrian accessway.

Typical applications: marina and yacht-berth extensions, end-of-garden finger moorings, private launch pontoons, lightweight access arms and floating jetty branches.

Best for: compact finger berths and add-on arms braced to a bank or a larger pontoon.

How the mooring pontoons differ

The DoubleCat is the all-rounder: wide float spacing puts the buoyancy at the outer edges for stability, making it the default for general marina, mooring and walkway work. The HZ-Deck is the cost-efficient wide-span deck, fixed at 2.464 m wide, best for long walkways, terraces and event decks. The Mono-Module is the compact single-run section for berth extensions and bank-braced arms. All three carry the same articulated connection standard, so you can combine them in one layout and reconfigure later.

Marina Infrastructure & Accessories

Every Floats and Frames pontoon pairs with a full range of mooring, access and safety accessories, fabricated in-house and pre-installed or supplied as a bolt-on retrofit kit. Below are the families we supply most often; bespoke fittings are always welcome.

Decking

Decking sets both the performance and the look of a pontoon, and our frames take a wide range of surfaces.

  • GRP Marina Mesh: anti-slip, corrosion-proof and low-maintenance, spanning larger gaps to reduce joist count, our most popular commercial choice
  • Millboard composite: premium wood-effect boards for residential or hospitality decks
  • Standard composite: durable and economical, in woodgrain or fluted profiles
  • Direct-fixed to the aluminium frame or clamped with angle trim for quick removal and resurfacing

Gangplanks & Access Ramps

Articulated gangplanks give safe, long-term bank-to-pontoon access through tidal rise, flood and seasonal level change.

  • Single or double-ended articulation so the gangplank pivots freely as levels shift
  • Roller-mounted gangways that track along the pontoon deck or bank coping
  • Wide or twin gangplanks for extra lateral stiffness in flood conditions
  • Full aluminium or part-timber, with ground-screw or masonry-fixed bank attachments, custom spans beyond 6 to 8 m

Pile Guides & Roller Assemblies

For permanent marina and river installations, pile guidance is the most robust way to hold a pontoon on station.

  • Scaffold-tube pilot piles for light private moorings, or industrial-grade marina piles for commercial sites
  • A buffered roller system manages vertical travel and lateral motion from current, wind or vessel impact
  • Roller housings in marine-grade aluminium and HDPE for silent operation and easy wear-part replacement

Mooring & Utility Fittings

A full range of fittings completes your floating infrastructure, pre-installed or supplied as a bolt-on retrofit kit.

  • Bullhorn cleats and D-ring mooring points at any position around the perimeter
  • D-fender rubbers and U-channel bumpers for primary mooring faces
  • Utility trunking for power and water, with distribution pillars, water posts and illuminated bollards
  • Safety ladders, lifebuoy holders and grab rails for public-access compliance

Articulated Connectors & Bracing

Every DoubleCat, HZ-Deck and Mono-Module ships with articulated axle fittings at the short ends for smooth linkage across tidal and flood ranges.

  • Linear linkage between modules, or attachment to gangplanks and access ramps
  • Extra axle points on the long sides for side-mount accessories, finger-mooring branches or angled walkway transitions
  • Rigid-brace or handrail-brace link kits for a stiffer deck feel where articulation is not required

Custom Fabrication & Integration

Because everything is made in-house, bespoke fittings are always welcome, from a non-standard gangway span to a unique mooring solution.

  • Cantilevered platforms for pump stations and small-craft maintenance
  • Curved boardwalks for landscaped marinas, and floating seating terraces for pubs and restaurants
  • Tidal-resilient bridges and step-free access ramps
  • Hybrid steel and aluminium structures for high-load commercial sites, finished for fresh or saltwater service

Moorings & Marinas FAQ

What can Floats and Frames moorings and floating decks be used for?

End-of-garden moorings, private docks and jetties, marina finger networks, floating walkways and boardwalks, event and seating decks, and fishing or leisure rafts. Each layout is configured to your footprint and load from the DoubleCat, HZ-Deck and Mono-Module modules plus our marina accessory range.

How are the pontoons held on station?

Depending on the site, pontoons can be rope-anchored or chain-weighted, hinged to a bank-fixed gangplank on ground screws or masonry, or pile-guided with buffered roller assemblies. Tell us the water type, depth and level range and we will advise the most robust method for your location.

Are the pontoons suitable for tidal or flood-prone sites?

Yes. Articulated axle joints let linked modules move smoothly across tidal and flood ranges, and pile-roller assemblies allow the structure to rise and fall with the water without stressing the fixings. Gangplanks articulate at the bank so access stays usable through the level change.

What decking options are available?

GRP Marina Mesh, Millboard composite or standard composite decking, all trimmed in aluminium. GRP Marina Mesh is the usual choice for commercial and public pontoons because it is anti-slip, corrosion-proof and spans larger gaps; composite boards suit residential and hospitality decks where finish matters.

Can I mix different pontoon modules in one layout?

Yes. The DoubleCat, HZ-Deck and Mono-Module share the same articulated connection standard, so you can combine them in a single installation, for example HZ-Deck walkways with Mono-Module finger berths, and reconfigure the layout later as your needs change.

Can you help with siting, anchoring and pile-setting?

The systems bolt together on site for straightforward assembly. We supply the pontoons, accessories and all fixings, and can advise on siting, anchoring methods and pile-setting for your water type and level range. Send us your site details and we will guide the best approach for a durable, low-maintenance installation.
